I wasn't really getting a job. I was just coding and hoping for the best.
Mina came to Wevise self-taught. A games and interactive media degree, JavaScript and HTML and CSS learned on her own, and no way in. Skill was never the problem.
What Wevise gave her was a mentor who stayed in her corner through the whole job hunt, a first network in an industry where she had none, and an honest look at what the work actually is day to day. Wevise also pointed her toward Ada Developers Academy for the formal training. About a year later she took a Software Development Engineer apprenticeship at Amazon and moved to Seattle.
On what changed: I started programming and enjoyed it, but Wevise exposed me to what the actual work environment would feel like. And I realized, I can get behind this.
